The Toyota 1KR-FE is a compact and highly fuel-efficient 1.0-liter, in-line three-cylinder petrol engine.
Known for its very light aluminum construction (approx. 69 kg) and designed for city driving, it features DOHC (Double Overhead Camshaft) with VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing-intelligent) technology to balance performance (around 65 – 70 hp) and economy. It was the standard base engine for the “old shape” (first and second generation) Toyota Yaris and is praised for its low running costs and reliability.
