The Nissan Hardbody/Patrol 3.0 ZD30 engine is a 3.0-liter, 16-valve, DOHC (Double Overhead Camshaft) four-cylinder turbodiesel engine. It was notably used in the Nissan Hardbody (NP300/Frontier in some markets) from approximately 2002 to 2005 and the larger Nissan Patrol Y61 series from 2000 to 2007. Early versions (ZD30DDT) utilized a direct injection (Di) rotary pump, while later iterations (ZD30DDTi) adopted a common rail direct injection (CRDi) system. Known for its strong torque output, especially at lower RPMs, which is suitable for utility and off-road applications, it delivers a balance of power and efficiency for the robust vehicles it powered.
